Job Summary: The Student Services Assistant aids in a variety of activities associated with student services for a department or college.
Additional Department Summary: Works in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) to assist with the coordination of and growth of the department's graduate programs. Oversees and supports the growth of the graduate programs through prospective graduate student recruitment activities. Provides administrative support for the Associate Department Head for Graduate Affairs and the Graduate Program Director in the matters pertaining to graduate programs and graduate students. Assists with other departmental activities/duties as directed by the Department Head. Collaborates with counterparts in the College of Engineering dean’s office and other departmental offices.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED.
Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, DocuSign, Forms and SharePoint) and ability to learn and become proficient with university software systems (especially Slate). Ability to work collaboratively and proactively in a dynamic setting with a spirit of continuous improvement. Ability to communicate clearly with graduate students, faculty, and other staff, both in person and via email, phone, or online platforms. Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports tracking graduate students and program data. Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and appointments efficiently and contribute to a collegial, ethical, organized, and positive department environment. Highly organized with experience organizing a digital file system (OneDrive, Box and DocuSign). Demonstrate tact, versatility, collaboration, and adaptability.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or experience in an academic department with support responsibilities for academic programs, either at the undergraduate or graduate program level.
